Old Sarum Airfield’s Skies Café raised £75 today for Salisbury District Hospital’s Stars Appeal.
Café staff donated their time and ingredients to make a range of cakes to suit different tastes and diets. Airfield staff and visitors were asked to donate a minimum of £1 per slice, bun, cupcake or cookie.
At the end of the day the cakes had all been sold and a total of £75 had been raised. Café Manager Alison Plevin said, “I’m really pleased with how well this year’s event went. Everyone was very generous and we even had one person who flew in just because he had heard about the fundraiser!”
The money raised was part of Bring a Pound to Work Day - an annual fundraising event organised by Salisbury’s Spire FM. It funds care and equipment over and above that provided for the NHS. They work hard to create the best possible experience for local patients and their families across all wards and departments, with a focus on cancer, cardiac care and children.
