Anyone familiar with our airfield will be familiar with our glorious hangar. A grade 2* listed building, our beloved hangar is now in its 100th year and whilst it is still in operational use, it’s easy to see that 100 years of English weather hasn’t done the timber structure any favours. In short, Hangar Three is in some desperate need of TLC.
So, with that in mind, we are proud to launch “The Hangar Three Project”.
In recent months we have taken numerous steps to consider the huge task of refurbishing the hangar and this new site will let you keep up to date with our progress. Whilst we don’t yet have a schedule for works, we are in the process of compiling all the necessary documentation we need to gain the co-operation of the local conservation officer and that of Historic England. Throughout, drawings, blog entries and photographs will be posted on the site as and when we make progress – as a local heritage asset, it seems only right that we keep the local community informed as much as possible.
The task ahead may be rather large, but we will get there.
