Vintage Aircraft Club
We are very pleased to announce the Vintage Aircraft Club is going to hold their major annual event here at Old Sarum on the 14th of February 2010. A great day to bring your valentine to Old Sarum for a romantic meal and to see the huge numbers of aircraft expected to visit. Your help neededThe APT CHARITY that helps disabled people learn to fly may be grounded by next month unless it can raise £20,000. The Aviation for Paraplegics and Tetraplegics Trust (APT), based here at Old Sarum Airfield, has been running for 15 years and has helped hundreds of severely disabled people take to the air.
Rare Cloud TreatOn the 5th of December this picture of a Kelvin-Helmholtz cloud formation was taken at Old Sarum and sent to us by Shadow Aviation - thank you Shadow! The cloud is so rare it does not fit in to any clasification group and can only be described as "other". There are only 10 similar clouds in the 'other' group. It is the highest scoring cloud in The Cloud Appreciation Society's website with the top score of 55 cloud collecting points.

We are delighted to present"A Life in Aviation"
A presentation by Group Captain David Scouller (Rtd)Tuesday 9th February
A warm thanksReceived from Michael McClure of Dublin by e-mail recently: Dear Sir. In Nov I visited your airfield during my training and also when doing my cross country solo flight with Derek Davidson. I just thought to to write to thank everyone involved in your airfield for the warm welcome and help they gave me.
Yogi Bear runs riot!Michael Hurst sent this in - thank you Michael! During a private "fly-in" fishing excursion in the Alaskan wilderness, the chartered pilot and fishermen left a cooler and bait in the plane and a bear smelled it. This is what he did to the plane....
The pilot used his radio and had another pilot bring him 2 new tires, 3 cases of duct tape and a supply of sheet plastic. He patched the plane together and FLEW IT HOME! Would you???
